An 85-year-old woman was visiting her daughter in Columbus, and as she went to open the storm door to go inside, a gust of window blew the door open and knocked her off of the stoop and on to the driveway, causing multiple fractures in her arm. The hinge to the storm door was broken and the daughter had neglected to repair it. A lawsuit was filed and a settlement of $122,000 was obtained from the daughter’s homeowners insurance company, Grange Insurance Company.
A Columbus woman was bitten in the hand by her neighbor’s dog causing joint damage and pain in her 4th and 5th fingers. A lawsuit was filed and a settlement of $35,000 was obtained from the neighbor’s homeowners insurance company, Erie Insurance Company.
A newly licensed Delaware County teen was driving at night on a curvy country road when he encountered a detour sign in a curve which caused him to veer off the road and hit a tree, resulting in his death.

They refused to settle and the case was taken to trial before a Kenton jury who returned a verdict for $372,000. An additional $65,000 was awarded by the judge as pre-judgment interest.

As they were being driven back to the airport in Germany, they encountered a fog bank on the highway and slammed into the rear of a semi-truck, resulting in a severe head injury to the woman. German laws do not allow compensation for pain and suffering. Nevertheless, a settlement of $425,000 was obtained without a lawsuit being filed.
A 54 year old woman was in her car waiting at a red light when she was struck from behind by another car causing a severe whiplash of her neck and chronic headaches and neck pain. A law suit was filed and a settlement of $39,000 was obtained.
A husband and wife from Gahanna were driving together on a country road in central Ohio. A car coming from the opposite direction was stopped and waiting on them to pass before making a left turn, when a car driven by a man on his cell phone struck the stopped car in the rear at high speed and drove it across the center line into a head-on collision with the husband and wife’s car. The husband was killed and the wife was hospitalized with multiple serious injuries from which she recovered. A lawsuit was filed and a settlement was obtained for the limits of the at-fault driver’s insurance coverage, including $100,000 for the husband’s estate and $100,000 for the wife.
A young black female was driving to work and stopped in rush hour traffic on the interstate in Columbus, when her car struck from the rear, resulting in an aggravation of her chronic back pain. A lawsuit was filed and a settlement obtained from the at-fault driver’s insurance company of $28,500.

A lawsuit was filed and a settlement of $60,000 was obtained against the employer, in addition to workers compensation.
A Columbus man was stopped on the interstate for traffic when his car was rear-ended, driving his hand into the dashboard, severely jamming his middle finger.
